History of WoodNotch
In November of 2014, Stephen, age eleven, was hiding out in his dad's workshop making wooden puzzles and toys for Christmas presents for his younger siblings. His mom put a photo on Facebook and soon many were asking him to make wooden toys for Christmas gifts. The four oldest Roland boys filled orders and crafted puzzles, toys, miniature violins, and scrolled names. In three weeks the boys had profited $900.
Several weeks later a Great Uncle (in more than one way!) was visiting and saw that the boys had great potential in woodcrafts. He taught the boys how to "turn a pen." He gave them tools, pen kits, and materials to help them get their start in pen making. It wasn't long before they were crafting advanced pens.
Since then they have sold at local shows and an online shop. They originally started with the name "Roland Ranch" but changed to WoodNotch in June 2016.
